Brotas is known as Brazil's Adventure Capital, and an ATV tour is one of the most complete ways to explore the region: you ride dirt roads, hill trails and muddy stretches, reaching waterfalls and rivers many people never see by car. In this guide we gathered what you need to know before booking.
How an ATV tour in Brotas works
At TRT Brotas, every tour departs from our base, about 100 meters from Parque dos Saltos in downtown Brotas. There is easy parking nearby, changing rooms with hot showers and restrooms.
Before departure, you receive your protective gear and attend a briefing with riding and safety instructions. Then you follow the guides in convoy along the trails. Along the way there are stops to rest, take photos and swim in the waterfall or river, depending on the route.
You drive your own ATV for the entire route. No experience needed: the briefing and the guides' support are designed for first-timers.
Routes and prices
| Route | Distance | Highlight | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATV + Waterfall | 25 km | Serra Monte Cristo and a swim at the top of Santa Maria Waterfall | from R$ 499 |
| ATV + River Swim | 18 km | Mud, trails and a swim in the Pinheirinho River | from R$ 350 |
| ATV Sunset Tour | 18 or 25 km | Either trail in the late afternoon | same price as the chosen trail |
| ATV Moonlight Luau | 12 km | Night trail and luau | R$ 750 per couple (50% deposit via Pix) |
Prices are per ATV, for up to 2 people. In other words, a couple pays for a single ATV and shares the experience.
Which route should I choose?
- For the most complete tour: choose ATV + Waterfall. It's the most popular and combines hills, trails and a swim at Santa Maria Waterfall.
- Short on time or want lots of mud: ATV + River Swim is shorter and ends at the Pinheirinho River.
- For unforgettable photos: take either trail at sunset. Availability depends on the schedule and that day's sunset time.
Who can drive and who can ride along
To drive, you must be 18 or older and hold a Brazilian category B driver's license (CNH) or equivalent. Maximum weight is 250 kg per ATV, driver and passenger combined.
What to bring
- Clothes that can get dirty (the tour has mud and dust)
- Closed sneakers or sturdy shoes
- Swimwear and a clean change of clothes for afterwards
- Towel
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Photo ID and the driver's license of whoever will drive
Helmets and protective gear are provided by us. Phones and cameras should go in a waterproof case or dry bag, as there are stretches of water and mud.
Best season and time
The tour runs all year round. In summer, rivers and waterfalls are fuller and swimming is more refreshing. In winter, dry days make the trails faster and sunsets are usually more beautiful. On rainy days there's more mud and more fun, but operation always depends on that day's safety conditions.
We're open every day, 8 am to 5:30 pm. Weekends and holidays fill up first, so book in advance.
Safety
TRT Brotas has operated at the same location for over 20 years and runs a Safety Management System in line with ABNT NBR ISO 21101, the standard for adventure tourism. In practice, this means a mandatory briefing, inspected equipment, guides with the group and clear rules, such as the 2-person limit per ATV.
Our tour was also awarded the Travellers' Choice 2026 by Tripadvisor and holds a top rating on Google, with hundreds of reviews from past guests.
